The ANP released today (01/18) on its portal detailed information on the confirmation of the individual target of 2019-2020 by each fuel distributor. From the data obtained, it can be seen that 14,535,334 CBIOs were retired by fuel distributors until 12/31/20, corresponding to 97.6% of the annual mandatory goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions set by CNPE for the years 2019-2020. The complete table can be downloaded at:https://www.gov.br/anp/pt-br/canais_atendimento/imprensa/noticias-comunicados/relatorio-cumprimento-metas-2019-2020-vf.xlsx.

Of the 141 fuel distributors with targets set for the period, 106 fully met the target, 4 retired CBIOs below the target and 31 did not retire CBIOs. The partial or full non-compliance with the individual annual target will subject the fuel distributor to the fine provided for in art. 9 of Law No. 13,576, of 2017, and in art. 6 of Decree No. 9,888, 2019, without prejudice to other administrative and financial sanctions provided for in Law No. 9,847, of October 26, 1999, and other applicable civil and criminal penalties. The payment of the fine does not exempt the distributor from meeting its annual target, and the quantity of CBIOs not met must be added to the target applicable to the distributor in the following year.

CBIOs retired by fuel distributors in excess of their mandatory individual target set for 2019-2020, which totaled 73,556 CBIOS, were not counted in the table, as they will be considered as a balance for meeting the 2021 target.

The deadline for compliance by fuel distributors with the mandatory individual targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions for the years 2019-2020, established through ANP Orders No. 585/2019 and 263/2020, ended on 12/31 . The proof of compliance with the individual target of each distributor is carried out from the retirement of Decarbonization Credits - CBIOs in an amount corresponding to their target. The retirement of CBIOs is recorded in the B3 system and posted on the CBIO Platform by bookkeepers for the purpose of proving compliance.

Having completed the verification process, ANP is responsible for publishing the percentage of compliance with the individual target by each fuel distributor, pursuant to art. 10 of Law No. 13,576, of 2017, and of art. 8 of Decree 2,888, 2019.
