Another 8 plants, two of them associated with UDOP, were certified, yesterday (24) by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) for the National Biofuels Policy (RenovaBio). As of now, these units are already capable of issuing Decarbonization Credits (CBios). With these certifications, the number of plants already certified by the ANP rises to 79.

The UDOP members certified yesterday were: Brenco - Costa Rica (currently Atvos - Costa Rica) and Agro Serra. In addition to these, the plants were also certified: Goiasa; Saint Helen; USJ; Santa Isabel - Novo Horizonte and Mendonça; and GIASA.

Following RenovaBio's procedures, after certification, the units must sign an agreement with Serpro - Federal Data Processing Service for the registration of invoices referring to the certified volumes and effectively start issuing CBios.

Each CBio (decarbonization credit) is equivalent to one ton less carbon to be emitted into the atmosphere. Also according to RenovaBio, fuel distributors have a mandatory target for the acquisition of CBios, determined each year, taking into account the amount of fossil fuels traded in the previous year.
