The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) said, in a statement, that it made the distribution of anhydrous ethanol obligations by distributors official due to the current pandemic situation.
In its report, the ANP detailed that ANP Resolution No. 819/2020 was published today, which regulates the contractual obligations for the purchase of anhydrous ethanol fuel (added to gasoline) provided for in ANP Resolution No. 67/2011, " exceptionally and exclusively for the 2020/21 harvest ", which started in April.
In practice, the measure alters the resolution's article in order to apply a 16% reduction on the volume sold in 2019. This change will be valid for anhydrous ethanol supply contracts valid from July 2020 to May 2021, informed the agency.
The ANP noted that this measure was due to a drop in demand for C gasoline, due to the covid-19 pandemic - which had consequences for the economy and for fuel demand in the country, the agency said.
