The ANP participates this week in the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), held from 8/16 to 8/19 in Houston, USA. OTC is considered the biggest event in the oil and natural gas sector in the world.

Today (16/8) the ANP inaugurated its stand at the Pavilhão Brasil of the OTC fair, with the presence of three of its directors: the general director, Rodolfo Saboia, and the directors Dirceu Amorelli and Symone Araújo. The fair has 23 international pavilions, with stands of companies and government institutions from each country.

At the inauguration, the general director of the ANP, Rodolfo Saboia, spoke about the performance of the oil and gas sector last year.

"In 2020, oil production in Brazil increased by more than 5% compared to 2019. For the first time, our average oil production was greater than 3 million barrels per day. And, as a consequence, Brazilian crude exports also reached record levels last year, with more than 5 million barrels exported. In 2020, we even had a round, which awarded 17 exploratory blocks and a marginal field with a Minimum Exploratory Program equivalent to 30 million dollars" stated.

At the Brazil Pavilion, the participation of around 30 Brazilian companies is expected, 23 of which in person. The space is considered an important showcase for Brazilian companies and institutions in the sector to develop international partnerships, both with regard to new businesses and to expand investments in Brazil.

Throughout the week, Agency directors will also participate in panels and activities at the event. Tomorrow (8/17), the General Director will be a speaker at the panel "Opportunities in Brazil's Energy Sector and the Role of Innovation and Digitalization in Securing Brazil's Energy Future". And, on 8/19, director Raphael Moura will participate, virtually, in the panel "Best Practices in Dealing with a Pandemic such as COVID-19 in the Offshore Industry".

With over 50 years of existence, OTC aims to create a space for professionals in the field to exchange experiences to advance scientific and technical knowledge for offshore resources and environmental issues. In the last edition in 2019, more than 59,000 participants and 2,200 companies were received, representing more than 100 countries.
