The 20th edition of RenovaBio Itinerante was held last February 23, with associated producers from Sindaçúcar Alagoas, the first in virtual mode. The State of Alagoas has 17 ethanol producers authorized by the ANP, and the 1st RenovaBio Itinerante Virtual had the participation of 15 of these producers.
The event had presentations by the ANP and the Ministry of Mines and Energy. The ANP addressed topics related to the certification process for ethanol producers, the use of the CBIO Platform to issue CBIOs (Decarbonization Credits), results in 2020 and RenovaBio's next steps. The Ministry of Mines Energy presented the Methodology for the evaluation of the offer of CBIOs and the Relationship between the offer of CBIOs and the goals set by CNPE (National Council for Energy Policy).
RenovaBio is a Federal Government program to expand biofuel production in Brazil, based on predictability, environmental, economic and social sustainability, and compatible with market growth. ANP participates in the program, having been responsible for establishing the accreditation requirements of the inspecting firms, the certification process for obtaining the certificate for efficient production of biofuels and for the individualization of decarbonization targets for fuel distributors.
The RenovaBio Itinerante, started in September 2018, aims to bring the program to the attention of biofuel producers and importers and to resolve doubts, encouraging adherence to the efficient biofuel certification process. There were 19 editions throughout 2018 and 2019 with several representative entities of biofuel producers. In 2020 there was no edition of RenovaBio Itinerante due to the focus given to the implementation of the program and the restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
