The Argentine government on Monday presented the final rules for its 1-GW renewables tender and said the deadline for bids submission will be moved to September 5.

Developers will bid for power purchase contracts for up to 20 years at rates per MWh in US dollars. The winners will be announced on October 12 and the contracts will be signed on November 11. Cammesa (Wholesale Electricity Market Administration Company) is in charge.

As previously announced, the tender aims to award contracts to 600 MW of wind, 300 MW of solar, 65 MW of biomass, 15 MW of biogas and 20 MW of small hydro projects. Apart from the long-term contracts, project will enjoy additional benefits such as tax incentives.

The publication of tender specifications has been delayed by several weeks as compared to Argentina’s initial plan. Last week, renewable energy companies called for an extension to the bids submission deadline too, previously set for August 22.
