Bahia remains the protagonist of Renewable Energies in Brazil and leads the national generation of wind (35.01%) and solar (30.30%) energy. Currently, the state has 233 wind farms and 41 photovoltaic parks in operation, which result in an installed capacity of 6,111 megawatts (MW) in relation to wind, and 1,349 MW in relation to solar. The information is contained in the Executive Energy Report of the Secretariat for Economic Development (SDE) and was released this Friday (19). Bahia is also the leader in the sale of wind and solar energy auctions, covering 32.46% and 19.7%, respectively, of all projects sold.

R$ 24 billion in private investments were made in the 233 plants that are in operation, benefiting 23 municipalities, namely: Bonito, Brotas de Macaúbas, Brumado, Caetité, Capernaum, Campo Formoso, Casa Nova, Gentio do Ouro, Guanambi, Igaporã, Iraquara, Licínio de Almeida, Morro do Chapéu, Mulungu do Morro, Ourolândia, Pindaí, Riacho de Santana, Sento Sé, Sobradinho, Souto Soares, Umburanas, Várzea Nova and Xique-Xique. Together, the plants promoted the creation of 91,600 jobs. The energy generated has the capacity to supply 17 million homes, benefiting around 51 million inhabitants.

According to the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), the 78 plants that are under construction and the 106 with construction not yet started should have 6,287 MW of installed capacity. The plants that are under construction generate more than 40 thousand jobs, in addition to investments of R$ 12 billion. The forecast is that by 2027 more than 54 thousand jobs will be created and R$ 13 billion will be invested in the plants that are about to be started.

The solar energy segment also has a positive balance regarding the creation of jobs and private investments. There are 40,400 jobs created and R$ 6 billion invested in the 41 plants that are in an active operational phase and have an installed capacity of 1,349 MW. The plants are installed in eight municipalities, namely: Barreiras, Bom Jesus da Lapa, Casa Nova, Guanambi, Itaguaçu da Bahia, Juazeiro, Oliveira dos Brejinhos and Tabocas do Brejo Velho. Regarding distributed generation, Salvador was granted the installations of the Pituaçu Solar, Sol Moradas Salitre and Rodeadouro and Salvador Airport plants as micro and mini-generation.

The state has 22 plants under construction, which add up to 688 MW of power and result in the creation of 20,600 jobs, in addition to R$ 2 billion in investments. By 2027, the segment will have investments of R$ 32 billion, in addition to the creation of 189,800 jobs applied in plants that have not yet started construction.
