Bahiagás has launched its first Sustainability Report, a product of a comprehensive effort involving awareness-raising, mapping, organizing, and analyzing key material topics for the company. Inspired by the standardized reporting model of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Sustainability Report demonstrates Bahiagás' commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in a responsible and transparent manner. It provides a clear view of how Bahiagás manages the impact of its economic activities on society and the environment.

"Sustainability is not only a social responsibility but also a strategic factor for Bahiagás," emphasizes Luiz Gavazza, CEO of Bahiagás. "With this first Sustainability Report, we are showing our commitment to building an increasingly responsible business, committed to the environment and society."

Bahiagás has reinforced its commitment to sustainability through the creation of its ESG Committee, comprising members from all areas of the company. "The Sustainability Report highlights the actions related to environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) issues, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which have always been part of the company’s routine but had not been fully mapped," says Manoel Vitor Jesus, coordinator of the ESG Committee. "The document also communicates future commitments we will make, in addition to highlighting our role in energy transition, innovation, and economic development in the state of Bahia."

Rita Dourado, Bahiagás' General Secretary and responsible for introducing the sustainability agenda to the company, notes that to strengthen the Committee’s work, Training Workshops were held in partnership with Appana Consulting. These workshops addressed topics such as systemic and strategic vision, materiality assessment processes, ESG project management, diversity and inclusion, ethics, and corporate governance. "Throughout this training journey, Committee members and managers deepened their knowledge of sustainability topics and enhanced their skills to lead the company in this new context." The Sustainability Report also includes the company's operations in the state, with a particular focus on the Gás Sudoeste Project, the largest pipeline under construction in Brazil. "Throughout the year, we built this document with workshops and seminars, in addition to training members and promoting the ESG theme," explains Dourado. "As a result, we were able to clearly communicate not only our role in the energy transition but also the importance of everyone involved at Bahiagás, including representatives from all areas participating in the Committee, to promote greater engagement and a sense of belonging in the sustainability initiatives," she concludes.
