BC Research predicts slight drop in GDP this year

Financial institutions consulted by the Central Bank (BC) await a bit less economic growth this year. The estimate for the expansion of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the sum of all goods and services produced in the country, fell from 1.70% to 1.68%. For 2015, the estimate follows at 2 % two weeks ago. These projections are part of the weekly survey of BC in financial institutions on key economic indicators.
The estimate for the expansion of industrial production fell from 1.80% to 1.57% this year and 3% to 2.95% in 2015. The forecast for the trade surplus (balance of exports minus imports) fell from US$ 7 billion to US$ 6.36 billion in 2014 , and follows by US$ 10 billion next year.
The estimate for the negative current account balance (records of purchase and sale of goods and services in Brazil and foreign countries) was maintained at $ 75 billion this year and US$ 67.9 billion in 2015. The forecast for the dollar fell from R$ 2.49 to R$ 2.48 in 2014, and remains at R$2.55, next year. The expectation of financial institutions to foreign direct investment (funds to the productive sector of the country) follows at $ 58 billion this year and US$ 55 billion in 2015.
The projection of financial institutions to the ratio of net public sector debt to GDP remained at 34.7% this year and by 35% in 2015.
