The new Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque Junior, took office Tuesday afternoon (1/1), in the Planalto Palace. President-elect Jair Bolsonaro has also sworn in 21 other incumbents who will lead other ministries in the next four years.
The inauguration ceremony began with a parade of the presidential procession of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasilia, from where the president and the elected vice-president, Hamilton Mourão, went to the National Congress. In the Legislative House, Bolsonaro made his first speech.
Jair Bolsonaro made the second speech after receiving the presidential belt of Michel Temer, in the Palace of the Planalto. The solemnities ended at the Itamaraty Palace, where the 38th president of Brazil received guests. In the States, the 27 governors-elect were also sworn in on Tuesday.
Profile of the new Minister of Mines and Energy
Born in Rio de Janeiro, the new cabinet minister has more than 40 years of service in the Navy and was a parliamentary adviser to defend the interests of the Force in the National Congress.
Previously he was director general of Nuclear and Technological Development of the Navy and is part of the board of directors of Nuclebras.
In his academic life, he has a postgraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Brasília (UnB), an MBA in International Management from the Institute of Postgraduate and Research in Administration at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and an MBA in Public Management from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). He also attended the Higher Politics and Strategy Studies course at the War College.
Bento Alburquerque was director general of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Defense Board in Washington, DC, and served as a military observer for the UN Peacekeeping Force in the former Yugoslavia in Sarajevo and Dubrovnik.
Lima was also chief of staff of the General Staff of the Navy; Chief of Staff of the Navy Commander and Commander in Chief of the Squadron and Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Navy.
The ceremony of transmission of the post of Minister of Mines and Energy (MME) was held this morning (2), at 11am, in the headquarters building of the MME.
