The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) reached R $ 12 billion in approvals for temporary suspension of payment of installments of loans contracted with the Bank. The measure, known in the market as standstill, is being granted for a period of up to six months to more than 28,500 companies, in approximately 77,700 financing contracts, in direct and indirect modalities. It is estimated that customers benefiting from the measure employ more than 2.5 million people.

In direct and indirect non-automatic operations, for which the BNDES closed the standstill order protocol on June 30, the sector that benefited most from the suspension of payments was infrastructure, with R $ 6.9 billion, followed by the industry , with R $ 1.2 billion. The Southeast Region received 39.9% of the benefit from companies that contracted directly with the Bank, while the North was the most benefited from indirect non-automatic contracts, with 61.3% of the standstill values approved for this modality in this region.

BNDES is still receiving requests to suspend payments in the automatic indirect mode. Requests must be sent to the financial agent that granted the financing.

Fighting the crisis - More than R $ 22 billion has already been released by BNDES in emergency actions to combat the effects of the pandemic. Among the outstanding results of the measures adopted are the R $ 5.6 billion approved for loans to more than 16 thousand MSMEs in the working capital line and the R $ 4.6 billion approved for credit to payroll, for which it estimates almost 2 million employees are said to have benefited.

Updated information is available daily on the results achieved by the program, as well as on the other emergency measures adopted by BNDES.
