The Brazilian renewable energy sector has achieved a new international contribution, with the agreement between the National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES) and three Japanese banks to finance US$ 100 million. The operation is within the scope of the Global Action for Reconciling Economic Growth and Environmental Preservation (GREEN Line), whose purpose is to provide support to projects focusing on preserving the global environment, promoting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, and energy generation from renewable sources.
The agreement was set with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), of which are associated The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and Mizuho Bank. It’s the fourth financing agreement between BNDES and the JBIC within the scope of the GREEN line. The first three were signed in 2011, 2014 and March 2015.
