President Jair Bolsonaro dined with executives who attended the World Economic Forum. In a speech replicated in his personal Twitter account, the president said that his government knows what must be done to change Brazil and reiterated his confidence in international investors in bringing about these changes.

“I have great confidence in you and I am aware of my responsibility,” he said, addressing the investors. Bolsonaro also stated that contracts will be observed and pledged he will seek to restore the confidence of international executives in Brazil.

Bolsonaro went on to say that, when he was elected, “hope came over to our side,” adding that he is committed to “turning this hope into reality.”

The president opened his address saying he had been informed that the auditorium had the equivalent of $23 trillion. “All Brazil needs is 10 percent of that,” he quipped.

Earlier on, at the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum, he promised to bring Brazil among the “50 best countries to make business with,” attract foreign capital, explore natural resources, implement the pension and tax overhauls in the country, invest in education, stimulate tourism, and preserve sustainability in agribusiness.
