bp has appointed Felipe Arbelaez as head of country for Brazil. He takes on the role alongside his current position as senior vice president, upstream Brazil, which he has held since March 2026.  

As head of country, Arbelaez will represent bp before government, regulators, industry bodies and other key stakeholders, and will lead the company's corporate and external affairs agenda in Brazil. He continues to oversee bp's exploration and production portfolio in the country.

 Arbelaez, a Colombian national, has more than 20 years' experience in the energy sector. At bp, he has previously led the low carbon energy business and held roles including regional president for Latin America and commercial director of the global supply, trading and shipping business.

 He holds master's degrees in mechanical engineering and in finance, and is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
