The Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce announced that in March 2017 in the Chinese city of Dongguan, it will open a building to provide services to support trade and economic relations between the two countries.

According to Brazilian daily newspaper Estado de S. Paulo the building, costing US$200 million, located in a 35-hectare plot and covering 75,000 square meters will bring together international customs and legal advisory services, product suppliers and logistics solutions and representative offices of Brazilian and Chinese companies.

The first phase of the project, which is expected to house 200 companies, was opened last week in the presence of representatives of the state government of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Sao Paulo, the Ministry of Tourism of Brazil, the city of Campinas and Chinese government officials.

At this early stage Brazilian and Chinese companies receive free spaces for a period of two years.

In addition to offices, the complex will have a luxury hotel, a conference center and an exhibition area, as well as a 30,000 square metre shopping center.

Dongguan is the second largest city in Guangdong province with a population of 8 million people, and is located roughly 100 kilometres north of Hong Kong. It has a large Brazilian community, particularly linked to the footwear and leather industry.
