Brazil’s unemployment rate closed out November at 4.6%, against October’s 5.2%, according to data from the Monthly Employment Survey, carried out by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (“IBGE”). The rate is also lower than it was in November 2012 – 4.9%.
The number of unemployed (1.1 million) fell 10.9% in relation to the previous month, but kept steady if compared to November 2012. As regards the total amount of people employed (23.3 million), it was reported stable in both comparisons.
As for formal employment, the amount of workers with a formally registered job in the private sector (11.8 million) was steady compared with October this year, but rose 3.1% in a comparison with November last year.
