Brazil's wind generation rises 53% in 1st weeks of Nov

Between November 1 and November 15, Brazil's wind power output rose by 53.6% on the year to 4,817 average megawatts (MWa), according to preliminary figures released by the Power Trading Chamber (CCEE).

 

In the Brazilian electricity generation wind power's share grew to 7.8%. The data was published by CCEE in the InfoMercado Semanal, the weekly bulletin for energy generation and consumption.

 

Among the other renewable sources, biomass and solar also showed growth in the period to 3,413 MWa and 3 MWa, respectively. Hydropower generation, on the other hand, decreased by 6.6%. Biofuels presented the largest decrease, going down 43.8% on the year, from 527 MWa to 296 MWa.

 

Overall, the country's total electricity generation went down by 5.3% year-on-year, with 61,426 MWa delivered to the National Interconnected System.
