Brazil's wind power output grows 10% in February

Brazil's wind power output in February rose by 10.6% year-on-year to 3,151 average megawatts (MWa), according to preliminary figures released by the Power Trading Chamber (CCEE).

 

The wind power share in the Brazilian electricity generation mix also increased, to 4.7% from 4.3% a year earlier. The data was published by CCEE in the InfoMercado Semanal, the weekly bulletin for energy generation and consumption.

 

As regards to the other renewable sources, hydropower and biomass generation also grew the period, producing 55,404 MWa (up 6.1%) and 664 MWa (up 25.5%), respectively. Solar generation was not mentioned on the February document but according to the bulletins for past two months it remained flat at 3 MWa.

 

Overall, Brazil's total electricity generation went up by 0.6% year-on-year, with 66,789 MWa delivered to the National Interconnected System.
