Speaking during a meeting with heads of state and government of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), President Michel Temer highlighted on Friday (7) the importance of the group for Brazil's growth and global development.

“In this challenging scenario, the message that Brazil brings to Hamburg is one of responsibility and openness. Responsibility in the search for a safe path to sustained growth that is based on dialogue, and openness to the world, to the plurality of ideas, to new and old economic partnerships," Temer said.

At the BRICS meeting, held on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Hamburg (Germany), Temer said that the economic group is the venue where the individual efforts of each nation are translated into joint gains.

The president also highlighted the opening of new markets and the possibility of growth for the country in several sectors. "Brazil attaches high priority to the BRICS. We see intra-BRICS cooperation as a valuable tool to multiply opportunities, not only in the financial area. We also have fertile ground here to cooperate on trade, investment, innovation, science and technology" , the president said this morning.

The G20 Summit also represents an opportunity for the BRICS countries to reaffirm their commitment to the multilateral trading system, the protection of the environment through the Paris Accord and the concrete realisation of the policies in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
