After seven years of operation in the country, Bunker One Brasil, a subsidiary of the Danish group Bunker Holding, a global leader in the supply and trade of marine fuels, is now also responsible for meeting demands in Montevideo, Uruguay, and Cartagena de Indias and Buenaventura, Colombia. The 47% growth in the Brazilian operation over the past two years, driven by the introduction of new refueling methods for vessels along the country's coast, has propelled expansion in Latin America and qualified the specialists at the Rio de Janeiro office to absorb operations in these two neighboring countries. In Uruguay and Colombia, Bunker One had already been operating independently with local teams. The integration of these operations will immediately increase Bunker One's activities in the region by 30%.

"Integrating the existing operations in Uruguay and Colombia into our team is a recognition of the work we have been doing from the beginning. Brazil, the largest country in Latin America, offers many opportunities that have not been fully explored by our industry. We have brought the best practices from our Danish headquarters, and the results have been excellent for the market, providing safer and more efficient alternatives in different locations. Now, we have the opportunity to take all of our Brazilian expertise and the lessons learned over the past few years to these two markets, which also have great potential," explains Flavio Ribeiro (pictured), CEO of Bunker One Brasil and Latin America.

As in Brazil, fuel supply operations in the neighboring Latin American countries will be carried out by Nova Offshore, a Brazilian shipping company that is a subsidiary of Bunker One. "With Nova Offshore, we guarantee our clients the highest Bunker One standards, as we have control over our entire supply chain and closely monitor every operational detail. Additionally, we operate certified vessels equipped with the latest technology. To replicate the success of our operations in Brazil in these other markets, partnering with Nova Offshore is a natural step," says the executive.

Uruguay

Known for its capacity to accommodate large vessels, the Port of Montevideo, located on the banks of the Rio de la Plata, is a strategic hub for Mercosur cargo transit. However, in recent years, it has lost some of its relevance in marine fuel supply. There, operations are conducted using a tanker in the port's inner and outer anchorage areas, as well as at the country's terminals. Marine diesel fuel is also supplied via trucks to docked vessels. "We will bring all our expertise and high service standards, proven in our Brazilian operations, to restore this bunker hub with excellence," says Flavio Ribeiro.

Colombia

Similar to Bunker One’s operations in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro, marine fuel supply in Cartagena de Indias will be carried out using barges. In Buenaventura, in addition to this method, clients will also have access to truck refueling. According to Flavio Ribeiro, the strategic positioning of Colombian ports is a major advantage. "In Colombia, we offer the industry complete coverage. As the only South American country with coastlines on two oceans, with supply points in Cartagena and Buenaventura, we are present in both the Atlantic and the Pacific, enabling refueling for ships on both routes," concludes the company’s CEO.
