The CBIO Guide is available on the ANP website, prepared by ANBIMA (Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Markets Entities) in conjunction with ANP and MME. The publication is part of the efforts to make relevant information and educational content on sustainability available to the market.

The guide seeks to standardize and establish minimum criteria to stimulate the trading of this asset in Brazil. It includes the entire operational process of the financial part of the CBIO with definitions for each stage: issuance, placement, intermediation, maintenance, custody, as well as minimum criteria required in service provision contracts.

CBIO is an environmental asset that has been allowed to be traded since December 2019. It was created as part of RenovaBio, a program that provides for initiatives such as the creation of financial instruments that contribute to attract investments with a focus on expanding biofuel production. Each CBIO emitted by biofuel producers and importers corresponds to one ton of carbon that is no longer emitted into the atmosphere.
