On the occasion, Rui Altieri (photo), chairman of the Board of Directors of the CCEE, defended the modernization of the sector with economic rationality to minimize the cost for the final consumer.

"We have important guidelines in the sector that need to advance, such as Market Opening, Market Security and Modernization of the Regulated Market. We need to learn from the lessons of the past and reduce the cost of generation, which will benefit consumers", he emphasized.

Altieri was one of the participants of the Panel "Challenges of sectoral governance for the four-year period 2023-2026", which discussed with representatives of the Ministry of Mines and Energy - MME, National Electric Energy Agency - ANEEL, Energy Research Company - EPE and National Operator of the Electric System – ONS on the themes of opening up the free market, modernizing the regulated market, operating in times of climate change, energy transition and new technologies.

In his presentation, Altieri highlighted that projections on the level of contracting of distributors point to a window of opportunity for renovation of the thermal park and modernization of the matrix from 2025 and 2026. for distributors to contract energy again. We have to take advantage of this window", he commented.

This Thursday (9), the opening of the free market agenda guided the debate of the Panel "The impacts of the new electric sector on consumers from 2023", moderated by Roseane Santos, CCEE counselor. Industry leaders commented on Distributed Generation, the relationship between distributors and market agents and transformations that should benefit residential consumers.
