Grupo Cocal is part of the collective effort to donate one million liters of alcohol for the production of alcohol gel and alcohol 70 to be used to contain the coronavirus. The purpose of the action is to contribute to the supply of public health units free of charge.

"The delivery of free 70 alcohol to SUS is an act of solidarity that can also contribute to a reduction in hospital demand in order to guarantee the normalization of retail and population access to products. It is a solidarity network that is being formed, with public and private laboratories and universities transforming alcohol 70 into gel alcohol. We, at Cocal, have the privilege to actively participate in this effort, so our employees are working day and night, in safety, to bring safety to everyone ", he said. Carlos Ubiratan Garms, Director of Cocal.

Six states will receive this donation: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Espírito Santo, Paraná and Santa Catarina. The 70 alcohol to be donated will be produced voluntarily after the granting of extraordinary and temporary authorization by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), on the 19th of March, which allowed the production, donation and transport. The product is used for disinfection and is essential for healthcare services.

The volumes will be transported to points indicated by the Health Departments of those states, where industrial processing will take place, for transformation into gel or filling of the liquid solution. After that, the distribution to public health units will be under the coordination of the State Secretariats. The entire operation is complying with the hygiene and safety measures according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Anvisa.
