Copel Geração e Transmissão completed the expansion works of the Umuarama Sul substation, in the northwest region of Paraná. New capacitor banks were installed in the unit, which operates at 230 thousand volts. This equipment relieves the current that passes through the transformers, reducing technical losses and avoiding overload in more extreme situations, such as the shutdown of one of the substation transformers.

Later this month, new capacitor banks should also start operating in two other substations of the same size: Figueira and Apucarana. The total investment in the three projects is approximately R $ 15 million and will increase the reliability of energy transmission in the north and northwest regions of the state.

With the completion of these three works, Copel GeT will have an increase of R $ 2.9 million in the Annual Allowed Revenue (RAP) for the transmission business.
