Coppe, Furnas and Petrobras are partner institutions in the project that led Rio de Janeiro to be selected by the Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The project encourages the creation and development of startups focused on the energy and sustainability sectors. The proposal is to bring together actors from the region and implement the MIT REAP methodology, adapted to the local context, in order to make Rio de Janeiro an "Silicon Valley" of innovation in these areas. This is the first time that a Brazilian project has been selected, after seven biannual cycles of the program.
Coppe participates in the REAP / MIT program through its LabrInTOS laboratory, coordinated by Professor Vinícius Fonseca, from Coppe's Production Engineering Program. The project is led by researcher Hudson Mendonça.
