The digital transformation of the entire production chain is considered essential by experts who participated in the webinar promoted by the FENASUCRO & AGROCANA TRENDS platform in partnership with LIDE Ribeirão Preto
Digital transformation with a focus on data management is the way to optimize the logistics of the bioenergy sector. During the webinar "What does Brazil's bioenergy production chain have to learn from the giants of integrated retail logistics?", promoted by the Fenasucro & Agrocana TRENDS platform in partnership with LIDE Ribeirão Preto, specialists highlighted the importance of investing in technology to improve results and reduce costs. The virtual meeting was held this Thursday (26) and was sponsored by CarregaBras.
Responsible for 30% of the total costs of the bioenergy sector's production chain, logistics directly impact market competitiveness, according to Paulo Montabone, Director of FENASUCRO & AGROCANA. "The retail market had the ability to restructure itself in this logistical part and, today, orders are delivered practically just in time. The digitization of this fundamental link for any industry and the solutions created by retail can help the bioenergy sector", he commented .
For Dennis Herszkowicz, CEO TOTVS, practices that are already applied, such as load control, better use of space in trucks, shorter delivery times and stock efficiency, depend directly on data management. "There is great pressure in the logistics sector and the only answer is data technologies, cloud information and digital management systems", he highlighted during the event.
Fábio Fernandes, President LIDE Ribeirão Preto and event mediator, highlighted the importance of this exchange of information between the sectors. "It is essential to know solutions and share experiences."
In practice
João Naves, President of Grupo Rodonaves, one of the guests at the event, confirms that constant updating and technology are the alternatives to improve logistics management processes. "We have prepared structures with planning and digitalization to be able to carry out complete management. Mainly in agribusiness, logistics has required more specialization. And, in order to be able to have this proximity to the customer, we have our operational control centers," he said.
André Rocha, President of SIFAEG/SIFAÇÚCAR (Ethanol and Sugar Manufacturing Industry Union of the State of Goiás) also highlighted that, due to costs, the logistics process of the sugar-energy chain needs to be increasingly efficient. "It is very important to have this real-time monitoring and control of products and inputs. In 2018, many sectors suffered from the truck drivers' strike, they were surprised. Therefore, in the last three years, we had to work much more with intelligence and strategy . Use IT instruments to monitor inventories, suppliers and productivity, so that we can be more and more efficient," he said.
For Marcelo Cosentino, Vice President of TOTVS Segments, this is the point of reflection for the bioenergy sector. "It is necessary to see the future and rethink strategies. In the case of retail, the consumer was the main driver of change and the same thing will happen with the bioenergy sector, which is looking for alternatives to connect with demand," he said. Also according to the specialist, in a period of ten years this digital transformation will be the reality of the sector. "We will know exactly what will happen in each hectare. With the advancement of 5G technology in the field, it will be cheaper to implement digital solutions."
Dennis Herszkowicz also highlighted that agro is the locomotive of Brazil and, like retail, it needs to invest in technology to connect different devices and generate information that will be processed and will result in a production gain, with a reduction in costs.
FENASUCRO & AGROCANA
FENASUCRO & AGROCANA (International Bioenergy Fair) will hold its 28th edition between November 9th and 12th, 2021, at the Zanini Events Center, in Sertãozinho (SP).
The event, held by CEISE Br and promoted and organized by RX Brasil, is the only one in Latin America to bring together innovations and high-level technical content aimed at the entire production chain of the bioenergy industry, as well as professionals from the food and beverage industries. , pulp and paper, transport and logistics, and energy distributors and traders.
