The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), Tereza Cristina (photo), said, on Monday (13), that the government is preparing the announcement, this week, of measures to support the sugar-energy sector. Together with the president of DATAGRO, Plinio Nastari, and the president of the Brazilian Rural Society (SRB), Teka Vendramini, the minister participated this morning in the Virtual Forum "The Response of the Agro", organized by DATAGRO in partnership with Band News TV and the Terra Viva channel.

According to Tereza Cristina, among the measures under study are the increase in the Contribution of Intervention in the Economic Domain (Cide) for gasoline, the removal of the incidence of PIS / Cofins on ethanol and also the support to plants for the storage of sugar and ethanol .

"Yes, there is the concern of the Map in relation to the sugar-energy sector. We cannot let this sharp crisis of low demand for ethanol bring losses to the activity. It is at this time that the hand of the State has to be present", stressed the minister , adding that it is a fundamental segment for the country.

Tereza Cristina also pointed out that in the face of the covid-19 pandemic, she has been negotiating with Minister Paulo Guedes (Economy), the anticipation of the Safra Plan, which is usually announced in June. Furthermore, according to the minister, there is no supply problem and that Brazilian agribusiness will fulfill its mission of serving the domestic market and honoring export contracts.
