Engineer Eberaldo de Almeida Neto (photo) was chosen as the new president of the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP). The executive, who worked for more than 30 years in leadership positions at Petrobras, had his nomination unanimously approved on Monday (17.05) by the entity's Board of Directors, after his name was recommended by the institute's Nominating Committee. His term of office will run for two years and begins next month.

The executive takes on the entity in the face of the challenges of opening up the refining and natural gas markets and the global scenario of uncertainties in the E&P segment, reflecting the crisis caused by the pandemic.

On the sector's agenda, there is still a need for regulatory advances in the areas of downstream, E&P and natural gas and the new positioning of the oil and gas industry in view of the transition to a low carbon economy, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement, and the increasing insertion of IBP and its associates in the themes of the ESG Agenda.

Almeida Neto worked at Petrobras for 34 years and reached leadership positions as manager and director, with emphasis on his performance in the E&P area, where he became General Manager of the Rio Operations Unit (UO-Rio), responsible for the deep water fields in the Campos Basin. In 2016, he took over the Executive Management of Supply of Goods and Services, responsible for all the hiring of the company. His last position at the company was that of Executive Director for Corporate Affairs, a position he held until May 2020. He will replace Clarissa Lins, who commanded the IBP for almost two years and left the presidency on March 31.

The executive is an electrical and electronic engineer trained by UFRJ. He completed an MBA in Advanced Business Management at COPPEAD. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at the IESE Business School (University of Navarra - Spain).
