The bulletin of the Monthly Operation Program (PMO), of the National Electric System Operator (ONS), referring to the week of operation from 22 to 28/08, foresees a 2.1% growth in the load in the month of August, when compared with the same period of 2019. The percentage is much higher than the one pointed out last week, when an increase of 0.6% was expected. This is the seventh consecutive week with positive indicators. The resumption of energy consumption is an indication of the recovery of economic activities and the easing of some restrictive measures in the country.

The four subsystems indicate positive performance, with emphasis on the North, with an increase of 5.2% with 5,907 average MW; followed by the Southeast / Midwest with an expected increase of 2.6% with 38,074 average MW. In the South region, the expected increase is 0.3% with 11,027 average MW, the same percentage growth of 0.3% is expected for the Northeast with 10,332 average MW.

It is also worth mentioning that, for the second consecutive week, there is a forecast of a decrease in the Marginal Cost of Operation (CMO) in all subsystems. Costs in the Southeast / Midwest, South and North regions are equalized and showed a 39% reduction in the CMO, from R $ 54.81 / MWh against R $ 90.21 / MWh in the previous week. In the Northeast region, the drop should be 22%, starting to cost R $ 50.86 / MWh, compared to R $ 65.88 / MWh. The main factor that influenced the reduction of the CMO in all subsystems of the SIN was the update of the flow forecast.

The report also indicates the occurrence of above-average inflows for the South and Southeast / Midwest subsystem for the next week. In the first region, the MLT is expected to be 151% and in the Southeast / Midwest 102% of the MLT. In the Northeast, the inflows are expected to be 67% of the MLT and, in the North, 62% of the MLT. The expected volume of reservoirs for the period is 78.2% for the Northeast; 71.7% for the North; 60.5% for the South and 43.5% for the Southeast.
