Enel Green Power, the renewable generation arm of the Enel Group with a wide presence in Bahia in the operation of solar and wind farms, will invest R$ 88 million to modernize the Horizonte solar park, in the municipality of Tabocas do Brejo Velho. The announcement was made during the signing of a protocol of intentions with the State of Bahia, through the Secretariat of Economic Development (SDE), this Tuesday (02). With the works, the expectation is that the plant will have an increase in its energy production capacity, in addition to promoting the generation of indirect jobs for local workers during the modernization phase.

"Bahia continues to be the leader in the total generation of solar energy, corresponding to 30.16% of the national generation. The State has an enormous potential in the generation of solar and wind energy. Renewable energies transform the landscapes, the economy and generate employment and income for the municipalities of Bahia. SDE offers institutional support and monitoring of the company, from its intention to establish itself, to its installation, offering all the necessary support at all stages of the process", highlights José Nunes, Secretary of Economic Development ( SDE).

The director of Business Development at Enel Green Power in Brazil, Jean Philippe Salvatore, highlights that the modernization of the park will include the replacement of the original inverters by more efficient and modern ones. "This exchange will take place in the next few months, until the beginning of next year. We hope to increase the productivity of the project with this change. The modernization is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2023".

Commercialization of Solar Energy

There are currently 41 solar plants in operation in Bahia, with 1.3 GW of installed power. Eight municipalities in Bahia benefit from the plants in operation: Barreiras, Bom Jesus da Lapa, Casa Nova, Guanambi, Itaguaçu da Bahia, Juazeiro, Oliveira dos Brejinhos and Tabocas do Brejo Velho. Another 180 parks are under construction or with construction about to start. When they are operational, Bahia will reach 8.3 GW of installed power. Data are contained in the Executive Report on Solar Energy, produced by SDE.
