On April 9, Equinor celebrated ten years of production in the Peregrino field, in the Campos Basin.
Considered by many to be impossible to develop due to the characteristic of its heavy oil, over the course of a decade Peregrino became the largest field operated by the company outside the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
Since 2001, more than 200 million barrels have been safely produced in Peregrino, an asset that is considered the milestone from which Equinor has established a solid base for its growth in Brazil. The company has invested more than $ 11 billion in the country to date and plans to invest another $ 15 billion by 2030.
From Peregrino, Equinor has grown in recent years in the country, having gone from being the operator of a single field to a company of multiple assets, with activities in both oil, gas and renewable energy.
Peregrino has also become a kind of school for professionals in the oil and gas sector. Many who started working in the field have already been allocated to other Equinor projects in Brazil and abroad, which confirms the role of Pilgrim as a creator of skills and reinforces the competitiveness of the Brazilian market.
