Imports of ethanol from Brazil hit a record in February. In total, 259,097 m³ were acquired, according to data from the Brazilian government, against 215,595 m³ in January 2017 and 40,675 m³ in February last year.

However, according to data from Datagro Consultoria, in the last month, purchases of biofuel reached 205,734 m³, a figure that represents an increase of 28.34% compared to January 2017.

To explain the difference in numbers, the consultancy explains that the data disclosed by it, represent the actual date of landing of ethanol in ports, not the date of the import clearance / registration with the customs authorities.

For March, Datagro estimates that imports of ethanol will remain heated, with the discharge of 204,786 m³ of the product already scheduled for this month.

Year to date, from January to March (already counting the volume for this month), imports of ethanol totaled 570,829 m³, up 315.14% over the same period last year.
