It is through the road network that around 60% of cargo is transported in Brazil. With a fleet of 2.81 million trucks, according to data from the National Transport Confederation, 75% of everything produced in the country flows on the roads. The predominance of the modal and the number of trucks running certainly contributed to the supply of natural gas for vehicles also reaching heavy vehicles. In June, the Charrua Group received the R410 6 × 2 truck powered by CNG, the first delivered by Scania to the southern region of the country. The model, which can also be filled with biomethane, is configured at the factory with innovative and more sustainable technology. Sold by Casa Scania Brasdiesel, it will be used by Transportadora Arco, one of the Group's companies, to transport Compressed Natural Gas that supplies industries and gas stations, customers of Sulgás and Charrua.

Flavio Aluísio Rudiger, director of Logistics and Transport at the Charrua Group, says that the collaboration with Scania started even before interest in the brand's sustainable solution arose. “Our partnership started in 2010, with the purchase of the G400 and the P310. As soon as Scania launched the gas model, the dealership team presented us with the solution. It was a great surprise and, immediately, Transportadora Arco, a group company, invested in the acquisition of a unit to test its operations ”, he explains. For Rudiger, the expectation is great and the arrival of this vehicle is a privilege. “It is a great pleasure to be the first customer in southern Brazil to receive this new technology from Scania. The R410, in addition to savings, will bring us a significant reduction in environmental impacts by reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. CharruaGás, a company of the Charrua Group, already takes NG to industries and also to vehicle filling stations that are far from the pipeline, will now use it in the vehicle that transports these products. ”

Roberto Barral, vice president of Commercial Operations at Scania in Brazil, highlights that the goal of some companies is the transition to a more sustainable transport system. “For us, there is not just a sustainable model. Each country will adopt the technologies that best fit its reality. For Brazil, the 'Here and Now' is the CNG and / or biomethane-powered truck ”, he emphasizes. In all, the brand sold 23 models in the country and 3 thousand in the world, and is the only manufacturer in Brazil to produce trucks fueled with natural gas.

João Elton Heinen, sales manager at Brasdiesel Lajeado, explains that the gas engine immediately aroused interest. “This truck is a new transport solution and is in line with the positioning of the Charrua Group. It is a great satisfaction to make this delivery ”, he said.
