On Friday (05/22), under the coordination of the Secretary of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), José Mauro Coelho, the first ordinary meeting of the RenovaBio Committee in 2020 .

At today's meeting, the Committee evaluated proposals for revising the goals of the National Biofuels Policy (RenovaBio) established for the year 2020 due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and also evaluated proposals for setting goals for the 2021- 2030. The goals evaluated within the scope of the RenovaBio Committee, will be taken to the Public Consultation and, later, will culminate in the deliberation of the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE).

The RenovaBio Committee is the governance body of the National Biofuels Policy (RenovaBio) responsible for monitoring the market and annual recommendation to the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) of the decarbonization goals for the fuel matrix. The RenovaBio Committee is coordinated by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, whose members are the Ministry of Environment (MMA), Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), Ministry of Economy (ME), Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), Ministry of Infrastructure (MInfra), in addition to the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and the Energy Research Company (EPE) also participate as permanent guests.
