The Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP) will hold a meeting on Thursday, March 19, starting at 8:30 AM at its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. Organized by the institute's Climate Change Commission, the event will discuss the next steps for Brazil's energy sector climate agenda in the post-COP30 period.

The meeting will bring together energy industry executives, academics and invited experts to present methodologies, scenarios and technologies that can contribute to advancing energy transition and decarbonization in the sector. Key discussion topics will include climate litigation in the context of net zero by 2050, perspectives for Brazil's climate agenda after COP30, the carbon market in Brazil and potential opportunities under the Climate Plan.

Confirmed speakers include Mariana Nicoletti from FGV, Carlos Agenor from the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), Luciana Almeida from Brazil's National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), Victoria Santos (photo) from the Climate and Society Institute, André Cavalcante from Shell, Ana Paula Cavalcante from the Ministry of Finance, and Raquel Coutinho from Petrobras.

The program begins with registration and opening at 8:30 AM, followed by thematic panels starting at 9:00 AM featuring presentations and debates focused on regulatory challenges, climate scenarios and technological solutions for emissions reduction, as well as strategies for developing low-carbon approaches in the energy industry.

Registrations remain open until March 18. The event is aimed at energy professionals, climate specialists, researchers and others interested in discussions about the future of Brazil's energy industry in the context of climate change.
