Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the sum of all the wealth produced in the country, closed the second quarter of the year with a rise of 0.2% compared to the first quarter in the seasonally adjusted series. Compared to the second quarter of 2016, the GDP variation was 0.3%.
The data are part of research released today in Rio de Janeiro by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). With the result, GDP accumulated in the last four quarters remains negative at 1.4% in relation to the immediately preceding four quarters.
With the result of the second quarter, GDP closed the first six months of the year with "zero variation" in relation to the first half of 2016. In current values, GDP in the second quarter of 2017 reached R $ 1.639 trillion.
