On Friday, July 25, Governor Fábio Mitidieri met with Petrobras' Director of Exploration and Production, Sylvia dos Anjos, for a strategic meeting focused on ongoing oil and gas projects in Sergipe. Key topics included progress on the Sergipe Deep Waters Project (SEAP), which foresees significant investments in oil and gas exploration in ultra-deep waters.

Governor Fábio highlighted the importance of the upcoming bidding process for two FPSO platforms (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading units), scheduled for September 30, calling it a transformative milestone for Sergipe's economy.
“We’re talking about up to 18 million cubic meters of gas and 240,000 barrels of oil per day. This changes Sergipe’s development level, attracting new investments and generating jobs, income, and opportunities for our people,” he said.

Director Sylvia dos Anjos emphasized the project’s strong potential and explained that the 45-day postponement of the bidding process was a request from the market due to strong interest from global companies.
“We are confident that the contracting will be successful, and we’ll then move forward with a defined implementation schedule,” she stated.

Priority Demands and Fafen Restart

The meeting also addressed the restart of operations at the Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant (Fafen) in Laranjeiras. The facility is seen as strategic for both regional development and the strengthening of Brazil’s agribusiness sector through fertilizer production.

Another priority request made by the Government of Sergipe was the inclusion of the state in the next stages of Petrobras’ Autonomy and Income Program, which supports workforce training and productive inclusion. Governor Mitidieri stressed the importance of expanding opportunities for Sergipe’s population, especially in areas most impacted by Petrobras projects.

Decommissioning and a New Phase for the Naval Industry

Petrobras also detailed ongoing investments in platform decommissioning in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, which is now the second-largest decommissioning hub in the country, behind only the Campos Basin. Actions are planned for 26 platforms by 2029, with total investments estimated at US$ 1.7 billion.

To support these operations, the Jack Up rig Arabia 1 and the Norwind Gale vessel recently arrived in the state. These assets are expected to double the number of offshore workers by the end of the year.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Governor Fábio Mitidieri thanked Director Sylvia dos Anjos for her visit and reaffirmed Sergipe’s key role in Brazil’s new energy cycle and Petrobras’ history.
“We are ready to lead this historic moment for Brazil and the Northeast. Energy means development—and Sergipe is at the heart of this transformation,” he concluded.

The meeting was also attended by Senator Alessandro Vieira and state secretaries involved in economic and energy development agendas.
