At its 4th Innovation & Technology seminar, held on March 28th at the end of Gastech, the gas technology conference and exhibition held in Seoul, Korea, GTT presented the new Mark V & NO 96 Max systems and a new training center, expanding the group’s range of services for the LNG transportation and storage sector.
The Mark V, a variant of the well-known Mark III system, introduced in 2013 at the LNG 17 conference for LNG bunker tank projects with a new metallic secondary barrier, is now available for use in LNG carriers to be constructed in 2016 and delivered in 2018.
In addition, the new NO 96 Max system, an upgrade of the well-known NO96 GW design, incorporating an innovative pillar-type insulation box construction, will also be available as of 2016.
Both systems incorporate solutions for a low daily cargo evaporation, known as daily Boil-Off Rate, at a guaranteed 0.09% of cargo volume per day combined with an optimization of the construction process and cost. These systems are designed to equip the next generation of LNG carriers featuring more efficient propulsion systems (less requirements for Boil-Off Gas for propulsion) and optimized hull forms.
GTT also announced that the current and future membrane systems meet the requirements for the carriage of other liquid gases such as ethane, ethylene, butane, etc, further extending their flexibility.
To enhance its service offer, already including service agreements for ship-owners and a 24 hour, 7/7 hotline, GTT has opened a new Training Centre in its headquarters near Paris, France.
Staffed by a team of specialist instructors with extensive training experience within the maritime sector, and drawing on available expertise within GTT, the Centre will provide training courses based on practical exercises in relation to the LNG industry, not only focused on GTT’s technologies. Equipped with state of the art equipment, and a newly developed LNG operation simulator, the centre will offer a portfolio of courses covering the whole range of LNG handling operations in the maritime and shore based sectors.
The first courses will start at the end of June, focusing on the training required for ship officers on LNG Carriers, and the practical aspects to be considered when using LNG as a fuel.
