BNamericasIberdrola CEO Ignacio Galán said Wednesday the Spanish group is confident about opportunities for growth as a result of the Mexican energy reform.
During the company's first half results presentation, the executive also highlighted private participation in Mexican transmission and distribution under certain conditions as part of sector liberalization.
He added that Iberdrola in Mexico has requested permits for over 1GW of renewable and traditional power generation, and pointed to state power company CFE's planned tenders.
The energy giant expects its installed capacity in the country to surpass 5.7GW in 2016 from the current 4.99GW.
The company's Latin America footprint includes Brazil, where metrics were impacted by drought but are due to improve this half through tariff increases and additional funds.
