The Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP) signed, on the afternoon of this Thursday (29), during Rio Oil & Gas, a technical cooperation protocol with the Brazilian Wind Energy Association, for the exchange of knowledge, development of courses , advocacy and other joint activities. The protocol is the result of a Working Group formed by important players from both sectors and represents an unprecedented move towards institutional alignment in the decarbonization and energy transition agenda.
“The strength of the Oil and Gas industry – which is who makes these large investments, who has expertise in technology, infrastructure, capacity to manage large projects, subsea installations – is leveraged for the offshore wind sector”, said Fernanda Delgado, Corporate Executive Director of the IBP.
Founded in 2002, ABEEólica is a non-profit institution that represents more than 100 companies from the entire production chain of the segment. For the association's president, Elbia Gannoum (photo), the document signed today formalizes the synergy with the O&G sector and should stimulate innovation.
“We are going to go into the energy industry, harness natural resources in both the renewable energy sector and the hydrocarbon sector, develop technologies and make the energy transition together,” Gannoum said.
