The General Price Index - 10 (IGP-10), measured by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), had an inflation of 2.53% in August this year, a rate higher than the 1.91% in July. As a result, the indicator accumulates inflation rates of 9.24% in the year and 11.84% in 12 months.

The July-August rate hike was driven mainly by wholesale prices, as measured by the Broad Producer Price Index. The index went from 2.54% in July to 3.38% in August, according to FGV.

The National Construction Cost Index also contributed to the increase in the IGP-10, from 0.62% in July to 1.01% in August.

On the other hand, inflation in the Consumer Price Index, which measures retail, decreased from 0.50% in July to 0.48% in August.
