According to a recent mapping of the Brazilian Association of Solar Photovoltaic Energy (ABSOLAR), the state of São Paulo has just passed the mark of 75 thousand consumers served with solar photovoltaic energy on roofs and small plots.

The São Paulo territory reached the milestone of 602.4 megawatts (MW) operating in distributed generation from the photovoltaic source and occupies the second position in the state ranking of distributed solar generation in Brazil.

Currently, there are 64,168 systems in operation, which supply around 75,057 consumers, spread over 633 cities. In other words, 98.1% of the 645 municipalities in São Paulo already have at least one solar photovoltaic system in operation.

One of the highlights of São Paulo is the municipality of Presidente Prudente, which leads photovoltaic generation in the state with 20.3 MW operational and 0.4% of all national production in Brazil in this modality.

For the chairman of the Board of Directors of ABSOLAR, Ronaldo Koloszuk, the region is strategic in the country for the development of the photovoltaic solar source. "The state of São Paulo has great potential for photovoltaic technology and, with the current presence of solar energy in distributed generation, the market contributes significantly to the sustainable and economic development of the entire region", he comments.

According to ABSOLAR's CEO, Rodrigo Sauaia, photovoltaic solar energy will play an increasingly strategic role in achieving the goals of socioeconomic and sustainable development in all Brazilian states. “Photovoltaic technology is essential for the recovery of the economy after the pandemic, being the renewable source that generates more jobs on the planet”, concludes Sauaia.
