On Wednesday (10), the Ministry of Infrastructure signed four new adhesion contracts for the exploration of Private Use Terminals (TUPs) in the state of Pará. They are: Sabbá Oil, Louis Dreyfus, Cargill and Infrastructure Assets Administrator (ABI) ). Together, these ports will receive investments of R $ 616.5 million to handle various cargo, such as grains and fuels.

"The new contracts with the terminals will supply a demand for cargo handling in the region, which has become a strategic logistics corridor in constant growth", declared the National Secretary of Ports and Water Transport of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Diogo Piloni, during a ceremony of signing of contracts in Brasilia. Minister Tarcísio Freitas also participated in the event (photo).

The Cargill and Louis Dreyfus terminals are located in the municipalities of Rurópolis and Itaituba, which are part of the export route for agricultural bulk of the so-called Arco Norte, which brings together ports in the North and Northeast of the country where part of the agricultural production is exported Brazilian. According to the folder, these terminals will be responsible for handling solid bulk, mainly vegetable. The total estimate of cargo handling at both terminals is 6.7 million tons / year.

The Petróleo Sabbá and ABI terminals will handle liquid fuel bulks, which are destined for the storage, distribution and regional supply of fuels in the municipalities of Itaituba and Santarém.

TUPs are terminals granted by the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) to private companies. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, in the last two years, 78 adhesion contracts were signed with companies, representing R $ 6 billion in investments in the port modal.
