The ANP announced today (8/25) one more company registered for the 17th Bidding Round of Blocks for the exploration and production of oil and natural gas: Karoon Petróleo e Gás Ltda. Thus, the round, scheduled for 10/7, now has seven bidders registered so far.

The registration was approved yesterday (8/24), at a meeting of the Special Tender Committee - CEL (see the minutes: http://rodadas.anp.gov.br/pt/17-rodada-licitacao/atas-cel). Other requests will be analyzed at the next CEL meetings.

Last week, CEL had already approved the applications of Petrobras (Petróleo Brasileiro SA), Chevron Brasil Óleo e Gás Ltda., Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda., TotalEnergies EP Brasil Ltda., Ecopetrol Óleo e Gás do Brasil Ltda. and Murphy Exploration & Production Company.

The 17th Bidding Round will offer 92 blocks with exploratory risk, with a total area of 53,93 thousand km². The blocks are located in 11 high potential sectors and new frontiers in four Brazilian maritime sedimentary basins: Campos, Pelotas, Potiguar and Santos.

The registered companies met all the requirements set out in the notice and are able to participate in the round. Registration is mandatory and individual for each interested party, even for those who intend to present an offer through a consortium. Once the requirements established in the notice have been complied with, and the application has been judged and approved by the Special Tender Committee, the company may submit bids only for blocks located in the sectors for which it has paid a participation fee and provided a bid guarantee.

The qualification process of companies (operator A, B or non-operator) will only be carried out for the winning companies on the day of the public session for the presentation of bids, a procedure adopted since the 13th Round.
