It was published in the Official Gazette (DOU) today, 30, Ordinance that changes the period from April 30, 2020 to April 30, 2021. The measure provides for the possibility of temporary dispatch of enterprises without a gas and energy contract with distributors, under certain conditions. The objective is to enable the activation of the natural gas thermoelectric plants that are operationally available and without an Electricity Commercialization Contract and, with this, increase the reliability and security of the service, as well as optimize the existing resources.

Given the emergency and temporary nature, the projects may have included some fixed costs at variable unit cost of generation and will not be subject to the penalty for failure to supply fuel. The ventures are also not going to bear the financial repercussions resulting from the possible apportionment of default in the short-term market.

The proposal meets the resolution of the Electricity Sector Monitoring Committee (CMSE), held at the 226th Regular Meeting of the CMSE, on January 8, 2020, in which this Committee decided to extend the term of the MME Ordinance No. 504/2018 .

The change in the effectiveness of this Ordinance aims to increase the energy supply in the subsystems of the National Interconnected System - SIN, which may eventually result in the reduction of the system's operating costs, in addition to expanding the possibilities of commercialization of electric energy for sector agents, generating income and employment, thus moving the economy as a whole.

The change will allow CMSE to evaluate the effectiveness of MME Ordinance No. 504/2018 considering the new methodology for very short-term dispatch - DESSEM Model (Hourly Price).
