The FPSO Guanabara MV31, operated by MODEC, has emerged as the top producer of oil and gas in May, as revealed by the bulletin from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP). Located in the Mero shared field, the installation produced 179,546 barrels per day (bbl/d) of oil and 11.68 million cubic meters per day (m³/d) of gas. This marks the fourth month out of five that the unit has led production in Brazil. Additionally, the unit was the largest producer for eight consecutive months in 2023. This performance contributed to the overall increase in oil production in the country. FPSOs Carioca MV30 and Almirante Barroso MV32 also ranked in the top 5 largest producers, placing third and fifth, respectively, in the last month of May.

According to ANP, Brazil's total production (oil + natural gas) reached 4.234 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) in May. Regarding oil, 3.318 million barrels per day (bbl/d) were extracted, showing a growth of 3.9% compared to the previous month and 3.6% compared to May 2023. Natural gas production in May was 145.63 million cubic meters per day (m³/d), reflecting an increase of 6.6% compared to April 2024 and 0.8% compared to May 2023.

The Tupi field, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and gas, recording 755.46 thousand bbl/d of oil and 37.01 million m³/d of natural gas. In this field, MODEC operates two other FPSOs: Angra dos Reis MV22 and Cidade de Itaguaí MV26.
