Over five days, more than 90 national and international representatives from the oil and gas industry and the innovation ecosystem will discuss the impact of digital technologies on the future of the upstream, downstream, gas and energy segments and the possible developments in other sectors of the economy. The meeting will take place at O&G TechWeek, Brazil's first event focused on technology and future trends in the industry, which this year features a partnership with the World Petroleum Council (WPC).

 

With a program of talk shows, case studies and interactive activities, the Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP), creator and director of the event, seeks to connect the largest players in the energy sector with researchers, investors, entrepreneurs, startups. and leading technology companies. The challenge is to ensure that the good momentum of the Brazilian oil and gas industry results in a true digital transformation in the segment, in line with what is expected from industry 4.0.

"O&G TechWeek is a stimulus for this industry to transcend its traditional boundaries and practices, paving the way for greater cooperation and opening up to process optimizations and the application of digital technologies. This time, O&G TechWeek takes place in a space that has already established itself as an innovation hub (or platform): the revitalized port region of Rio de Janeiro, at the same address occupied by the Startup Factory, one of the event's partners. Also new is the WPC holding the Expert Workshop, on the 26th and 27th. The meeting will also feature a day dedicated to Germany, considered a leader in the 4.0 revolution.

 

"We want to bring the public policy benchmark to foster the development of technology and innovation and to qualify skilled labor to meet the new requirements of digital transformation, as well as networking among participants," explains Melissa Fernandez, Technology and Innovation Manager. of the IBP.

 

On August 30, the event's agenda also includes TechTour, visits to Rio de Janeiro's main research and technology centers, as well as hackathons and startup pitch sessions. These initiatives were designed to foster interaction and exchange of experiences between the oil and gas industry and the innovation ecosystem. "We have included a program aimed at attracting a young audience, aware of the opportunities of the O&G industry," explains Borella.
