The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved a total financing of R $ 1.3 billion for the implementation of twelve wind farms and associated transmission system in Paraíba, with an installed capacity of 370.8 MW - enough to supply about 840 thousand households. The amount of financing granted to the project corresponds to 80% of the total investment of R $ 1.6 billion of the twelve wind farms.

 

In the operation, each wind farm sets up a Specific Purpose Company - Sociedade de Propósito Específico (“SPE”). They are controlled by Força Eólica do Brasil S.A., which in turn is controlled by Neoenergia, a company of the Spanish group Iberdrola.

The construction of the parks, which will be located in the municipalities of Santa Luzia, São José do Sabugi, São Mamede and Areia de Baraúnas, began in the 4th quarter of 2019 and has a deadline of up to 36 months, with the completion of all wind farms in 2022. It is estimated that during the construction phase 1,000 direct and 300 indirect jobs will be generated, with much of the workforce coming from locations close to the venture, in the interior of the state.

 

The granting of financing to the project reinforces BNDES 'commitment to sustainable development and the promotion of renewable energy in Brazil, increasing the installed capacity of the national electricity system and contributing to the strengthening of the wind turbine supply chain established in the country.

 

Iberdrola: Spanish group lberdrola is a global leader in energy, is present in several countries and supplies energy to about 100 million people, mainly in Spain, the United Kingdom (ScottishPower), the United States (AVANGRID), Brazil (Neoenergia ) and in Mexico.
