Brazil’s Minister of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services, Marcos Pereira, stressed that exports play a fundamental role in economic recovery. Speaking during a meeting of the Latin American Business Council, the minister stated that the Brazilian government is working to expand trade agreements.

Pereira reported that the federal government has already made progress on new bilateral agreements - such as the approach to the Pacific Alliance, which includes Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru - and the negotiations for the Mercosur-EU trade agreement.

"Brazil is experiencing a new moment in politics and economics, that is undeniable. But the support of the productive sector is fundamental in this process of resumption of economic growth,” the minister said.

Trade balance has been achieving good results in recent months. From January to July, Brazil had a trade balance surplus of US$ 42.5 billion, the largest for the period.
