Universities, research institutes and companies have until 08/04 to enroll their lung ventilator projects in the third wave of the public selection promoted by Petrobras in partnership with the Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP). The objective is to accelerate the manufacture of this equipment in the country, essential for the survival of critically ill patients with Covid-19. See the complete rules in the public selection notice here.

The main requirement is that candidates have the registration of their equipment, as well as the manufacturing authorization (AFE), issued by Anvisa, in order to allow its manufacture and ensure the safety of patients. In this stage of the process, only one winner will be selected and will receive R $ 1.1 million in financial resources for the development of the ventilator.

Scientific Response Structure in the fight against coronavirus

Public selection is another initiative of Petrobras' Scientific Response Structure (ECR) aimed at combating the coronavirus. The goal is to bring together technical competence in partnership with companies, universities and science and technology institutions to formulate viable and quick solutions to tackle the pandemic.

The Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering (SBEB) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations are supporting the initiative and are participating in the evaluation and selection of projects - jointly with IBP and Petrobras.
